CANTON, Miss. (AP) - Madison County is paying $1.3 million for a 15-acre compound to house emergency management operations and local other services.
The Madison County Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1Hhv2LE ) is spending another $200,000 to fix up the buildings once used as a vocational-technical center by the Madison County School District. It also was used as the school district’s central office.
County Administrator Mark Houston says the property, which has buildings and warehouse space, allows the county flexibility to address some growing pains. He says the purchase will address the county’s space needs for the considerable future.
Madison Schools Superintendent Ronnie McGehee says the sale helps the district’s effort to centrally locate at their new facility in Ridgeland.
