TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - The voice on the other end of the line was a little too friendly for some New Jersey callers seeking refunds for cellphone service.

The Courier-Post of Cherry Hill reports (https://on.cpsj.com/1G7fbgZ ) state officials inadvertently directed callers to a sex line for more than 24 hours. The state Attorney General’s Office says the mistake came from a simple typo in a news release Tuesday.

Officials say the correct number offered information on a $68 million payment by Sprint to settle allegations of billing abuse. But a wrong number in the new release sent callers to a sex line.

The error was fixed Wednesday afternoon.
