CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A planned new $350 million children’s hospital at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston has received a $25 million pledge.

Area media outlets report that MUSC announced on Thursday that the donation is coming from Shawn Jenkins, a founder and CEO of Benefitfocus. The university announced that the hospital will be named in honor of Jenkins.

The new hospital is expected to open in four years and replace the existing, 30-year-old MUSC Children’s Hospital.

University officials say the project needs about $50 million in private donations and the Jenkin’s donation brings that figure to just over $40 million.
