FULTONVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - The New York State Police are honoring two fallen troopers with a monument.

The memorial will be unveiled on Friday morning at the state police barracks in Fultonville at exit 28 of the New York State Thruway. It will honor Sgt. Stanley Bunner and trooper David Cunniff, who were stationed at Fultonville when they were killed in the line of duty.

Bunner was killed in a one-car crash in June 1965 and Cunniff was killed during a traffic stop in December 2013.

The 35-year-old Cunniff, who lived in Duanesburg, died from injuries suffered when a tractor-trailer truck slammed his patrol car and a car he had stopped for speeding at the Amsterdam exit on the Thruway.

Since the turn of the century, 22 troopers have died on the job.
