DENVER (AP) - A Colorado cyber security expert is the creator of a controversial site that connects hackers with people looking to hire them.
The New York Times reported this week that Charles Tendell had taken credit for starting HackersList.com last year.
Tendell told The Denver Post (https://dpo.st/1A2iK7p) that he thought it was better if people knew a certified ethical hacker was behind the site, which he says has processed 250 legal jobs since it launched in October.
The 32-year-old Iraq war veteran says consumers are most at risk and yet the least protected when it comes to online crimes like social media hacks, and his website seeks to give them options.
Information technology professionals have concerns about it though, saying it will invite hackers to commit crimes for or even against the customers seeking their help.
