PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a member of a Phoenix street gang is accused of running over a man with his car and instructed other people to shoot him.

Phoenix police say 42-year-old Johnny Ruiz was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of attempted murder, street gang affiliation, drug possession and assault with a deadly weapon.

Bond was set at $500,000 at his initial court appearance Thursday.

Ruiz doesn’t have an attorney yet.

He was identified by a witness in a police lineup as the man who ran him over last June and instructed others to “blast that fool.”

The victim told police Ruiz and other members of a Phoenix street gang had been searching for him.

The man says gang members started shooting at him from the car while he was trying to hide.
