DETROIT (AP) - Police say a body has been found in a burned car on Detroit’s east side.

Authorities responded early Thursday to a report of a car fire and the body was found inside. Police say the body has been turned over to the Wayne County medical examiner’s office, which will handle identification and determine cause of death.

Anyone with information on the death is asked to call police.

Earlier this week, the charred remains of a body were found in a van that burned in suburban Detroit. The conversion van was found fully engulfed in flames in Pontiac. After the fire was extinguished, authorities discovered the body of a man inside the van.

The death is under investigation.
