CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a suspect had an unsuspecting taxi driver wait for him while he robbed one Long Island bank and tried to rob another.

Suffolk County police say the man told the driver he was having a problem with his accounts at the two banks.

The cabbie drove to both banks on Wednesday and waited outside while tellers were handed a note demanding cash.

The teller in Central Islip (EYE’-slihp) refused. The teller in East Islip complied.

According to Newsday (https://nwsdy.li/1L3DhJE ), witnesses identified the cab company. The dispatcher located the taxi with GPS and the arrest was made minutes later.

Clenzo Thompson was scheduled for arraignment Thursday in Central Islip. Information on his lawyer was not immediately available.
