CLEVELAND (AP) - A relative of a woman killed in a hail of Cleveland police gunfire has been acquitted of threatening to kill the patrolman who’s on trial in the shooting.
A judge found 35-year-old Alfredo Williams not guilty of misdemeanor disorderly conduct Wednesday. His attorney says he’s the cousin of Malissa Williams, one of two people killed after a high-speed chase in November 2012.
Alfredo Williams was charged last month over an alleged comment during the voluntary manslaughter trial of Michael Brelo (BREE’-low), the only officer charged. A security guard told the judge that Williams identified Malissa Williams as his sister and stated outside the courtroom that he’d kill Brelo if the officer was acquitted.
Alfredo Williams’ attorney says witnesses testified there was no such threat.
A verdict for Brelo is pending.
