ANN ARBOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - DTE Energy Co. is moving forward with a solar power project near Ann Arbor.

The Ann Arbor News reports (https://bit.ly/1JKd9CC ) the 4,000-plus photovoltaic panels going up in Washtenaw County’s Ann Arbor Township would be enough to power about 185 average-size homes. DTE is leasing roughly eight acres of land for the array from Domino’s Farms.

Detroit-based DTE says the project is to be completed and operational this summer. The 1.1-megawatt installation represents a continuation of DTE’s Solar Currents program and will help it meet Michigan’s renewable energy standards.

Meanwhile, DTE said Thursday a separate solar project at Ford Motor Co.’s headquarters in Dearborn is operational. The 1-megawatt project, launched last year, provides Ford employees with 360 covered parking spaces and 30 charging stations for plug-in electric vehicles.
