FENTON, Mo. (AP) - Two men are dead in Jefferson County in what police are calling a murder-suicide.
The shooting happened at 6:55 a.m. Thursday near Fenton. Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer says 35-year-old Mark Kirkpatrick of House Springs fatally shot 35-year-old Jason Plass of Defiance before turning the gun on himself.
The sheriff’s department says Kirkpatrick called his estranged wife and told her he had just shot her male housemate and he planned to kill himself. Deputies went to the home and found both men dead of single gunshot wounds.
Boyer says Kirkpatrick and the woman were married but had an on-again, off-again relationship. The wife and the victim had been in a relationship.
