SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - The suspect in the stabbing death of a 25-year-old Springfield woman was high on PCP at the time according to a court psychiatrist.
Van Dorsey Jr.’s lawyer entered not guilty pleas to charges including murder and drug offenses at his arraignment Wednesday in connection with the Tuesday night slaying. Dorsey was held without bail pending a competency hearing Monday.
The victim’s name has not been released, but authorities say she was the 27-year-old Dorsey’s girlfriend.
Police responded to a home directly across the street from Our Lady of the Rosary Parish just after 7 p.m. Tuesday where they found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds on the first-floor landing. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Dorsey’s lawyer retained the right to seek bail at a later date.
