INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - One teenager has serious injuries and another is under arrest after a crash between a car and a train in Indianapolis.
Indianapolis police say a car carrying four teenagers collided with a train shortly before 1:30 a.m. Thursday on the city’s south side. Police tell WTHR that the car attempted to beat the train as it approached the crossing.
The train hit the driver’s side of the car and pushed it about 300 yards.
Lt. Richard Riddle tells The Indianapolis Star the 17-year-old male driver of the car was arrested on suspicion of criminal recklessness and driving while intoxicated.
Police say a backseat passenger suffered possible internal injuries and broken bones.
