LOGAN, Utah (AP) - A Utah State University professor who was criticized for signing a U.S. Supreme Court brief that argues against gay marriage says he plans to remove his name from the filing.
USU associate professor of family, consumer and human development Kay Bradford told The Herald Journal newspaper in Logan (https://bit.ly/1A2Olpr ) that his views have been misunderstood.
He declined to comment further about why he joined about 100 “scholars of marriage” who signed the brief.
USU philosophy professor Richard Sherlock also signed it and has defended his argument that the legalization of same-sex marriage nationwide would leave to polygamy and polyandry.
More than 250 students, faculty and alumni have signed a letter asking Bradford and Sherlock to refrain from using their university status to speak out against same-sex marriage.
