HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) - A woman is charged with first-degree murder in the death last February of a man with whom she shared a Hagerstown apartment.
City police announced the arrest Thursday of 40-year-old Leandra Blunt. She has a Washington, D.C., address, but police say she lived with 65-year-old William Carter before his decomposing remains were found in a second-floor apartment near the downtown area on Feb. 10.
Blunt was in custody and couldn’t be reached for comment. The Maryland public defender’s office said one of its lawyers would represent her at a bond review hearing Friday. That lawyer, Carl Creeden, didn’t immediately respond to email and telephone messages from The Associated Press.
Police haven’t disclosed the cause of Carter’s death. They say his body was found on a bedroom floor.
