PICKENS, S.C. (AP) - Police in Pickens have arrested a 17-year-old man in the shooting death of his father.

Police tell local media that dispatchers were called to the scene shortly before midnight Thursday. They say Joseph Wright had suffered a bullet wound to the side and died later at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Wright’s son Joshua is charged with voluntary manslaughter.

Joshua Wright’s attorney Jim Bannister told WYFF-TV (https://bit.ly/1JlVQtF ) that the teen was trying to join the military and the shooting did not happen at their house.

Bannister says he is still trying to find out what happened.
