SYDNEY (AP) - Asian champion Western Sydney has sacked 10 players after a poor domestic A-League season, including Socceroo striker Tomi Juric and Champions League hero and goalkeeper Ante Covic.
Iacopo La Rocca, Jason Trifiro, Antony Golec, Nikita Rukavytsya, Nick Ward, Nick Kalmar and Adrian Madaschi were off contract and let go by the club which finished in second-last place in the 10-team A-League.
Juric, Kerem Bulut and Covic had their contracts terminated.
Covic was the Wanderers’ standout player in the Asian Champions League final when they held on for a 0-0 draw in the second leg against Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal after Covic made a number of stellar saves. Juric scored the decisive goal in the first leg of that match.
