GATES MILLS, Ohio (AP) - Authorities are investigating a crash that killed two 18-year-olds in a village east of Cleveland.
The Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH’-guh) County Medical Examiner’s office has identified the victims as Alexander Doody and Joshua Weil. Both are seniors at Hawken Upper School. Police say both were killed after a vehicle veered off a road and hit a tree Thursday afternoon in Gates Mills.
Northeast Ohio Media Group reports Doody was a basketball player and Weil was the captain of his football team.
Two other students are recovering from injuries that aren’t life-threatening.
Friday’s classes have been canceled at both of Hawken’s campuses. The Upper School in Gates Mills will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for students who would like to speak with counselors and teachers.
