BIDDEFORD, Maine (AP) - The city council in a Maine city will meet again next week to hear more comments about allegations of sexual abuse against former police officers.
Biddeford city officials say the meeting will take place May 19. It is prompted by a petition circulated by a resident about the response of city officials to the abuse allegations. Residents demanded the police chief and deputy police chief be removed from office at a similar meeting two weeks ago.
The Portland Press Herald (https://bit.ly/1cAjTYV) says city officials are holding the meeting to listen to the residents’ concerns and will not take any action. The Maine attorney general’s office is investigating sex abuse allegations made against retired police officer Stephen Dodd. Dodd’s attorney did not return a reporter’s phone message.
