NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A New Orleans advocacy group is getting ready for its fourth annual bicycle tour calling attention to the catastrophic flooding that hit the city when Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005.
Saturday’s guided tour is being organized by Levees.org.
It will take cyclists to some of the sites where levees and floodwalls failed.
Levees.org bills the two-hour tour as a “healthful” way to learn about a civil engineering disaster.
Bikers will visit breach sites along the London Avenue Canal and 17th Street; and, they will hear a talk about the failures of levees and flood walls designed and built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
