ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Police investigators say an Albuquerque man fatally stabbed his sister before shooting and killing his father and then himself.
Albuquerque police Friday released the names of the dead Friday along with details of Thursday afternoon’s incidents.
They say 62-year-old Douglas Brown stabbed his 64-year-old sister Rebecca Baca at her northeast Albuquerque home and tried to start a fire inside the house before fleeing.
Police say Brown then went to the nearby home he shared with his 87-year-old father Alva Brown.
They say he shot his dad to death before starting a fire in the home and fatally shooting himself.
Authorities discovered the men’s bodies after the blaze was extinguished and made the connection after Baca’s body was found.
They’re still trying to determine a motive for the murders and suicide.
