SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) - Workers with a child welfare agency in northeastern Pennsylvania went on strike Friday amid a showdown over their contract.
About 75 employees of Lackawanna County Children and Family Services are walking a picket line in Scranton, holding signs and chanting.
A union negotiator tells The Times-Tribune of Scranton (https://bit.ly/1QP2ydH ) the strike will continue at least until Tuesday. Matthew Balas says workers feel disrespected by the county commissioners.
The union rejected the county’s final contract offer last month.
County officials say child welfare cases will initially be handled by supervisors, but replacement workers would have to be called in if the strike does not end soon.
