BANGOR, Maine (AP) - Emera Maine is making some shifts in its leadership.

The utility says Alan Richardson, who served as vice president of sustainability, became president and chief operating officer of the company on Friday.

He replaces Gerry Chasse who the company says will be leading its efforts to modernize its affiliate grids through smart grid technologies and the advancement and electrification of transportation and heating.

Richardson became part of Emera Maine’s executive team in 2012.
