GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) - A former detective who investigated the slayings of a Southern Oregon husband and wife has testified he feels there is some truth to stories about flesh-eating zombies.

The Grants Pass Daily Courier (https://bit.ly/1Po3I2s ) reports former Josephine County deputy Josh White was called Wednesday by defense lawyers in the trial of Gary Goins. Goins is charged with killing his brother and his brother’s wife at their home north of Grants Pass.

Asked by defense attorney Steve Lindsey to “talk a little bit about humans turning into flesh-eating zombies,” White responded. “That’s just a theory.” Pressed, White responded “yeah” to the idea humans turn into zombies.

A termination letter from the sheriff introduced as evidence said White had been insubordinate and drunk on the job, and had regularly discussed government conspiracy theories.
