ATLANTA (AP) - Fulton County prosecutors say a man has been convicted in his roommate’s death.
Authorities say 50-year-old Tony Mitchell was out on parole when his 48-year-old roommate Randy Lewis was killed in June 2011.
District Attorney’s spokeswoman Yvette Jones says Lewis’s decomposing body was found in the bedroom of a duplex he shared with three other parolees. Authorities have said the man was strangled and suffered a blow to his head.
Prosecutors say Mitchell had removed his ankle monitor and traveled to Macon in the victim’s car. Jones says Lewis’s car was recovered and Mitchell was arrested after shoplifting in Florida.
Mitchell has been sentenced to life without the possibility of parole.
