PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Oregon Gov. Kate Brown and U.S. Sen. Jeff Merkley were among the first passengers invited to ride the Portland-area’s newest light-rail line, which runs from downtown Portland south to the suburb of Milwaukie.
The Oregonian reports (https://is.gd/WeEIlg ) the roughly 7-mile trip took 17 minutes on Friday.
TriMet’s Orange Line is expected to open to the public on Sept. 12.
The $1.5 billion project joins four other Tri-Met light-rail lines that carry passengers across the Portland area.
