CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina says guard Jessica Washington is leaving the women’s basketball team.

Coach Sylvia Hatchell said Friday that Washington’s departure was a mutual decision.

Washington played two seasons for the Tar Heels and averaged 7.3 points and 2.4 rebounds. She came off the bench in all 35 games this season for North Carolina (26-9).

Hatchell says Washington is “a very talented player.” Washington says she enjoyed her time at UNC but is “looking forward to a new opportunity to play for another quality institution.”
