JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Michael Bennett, a sixth-round draft pick from Ohio State, has signed his rookie contract.

The 180th overall selection, Bennett is the fifth of Jacksonville’s eight draft picks to sign deals.

Bennett was a four-year letterman at Ohio State, playing in 49 games and finishing with 110 tackles, 31 ½ tackles for loss and 18 sacks. A senior co-captain in 2014, Bennett totaled 14 tackles for loss, seven sacks and three forced fumbles.

He will have a chance to help Jacksonville right away, especially with starting defensive tackles Roy Miller and Sen’Derrick Marks both recovering from knee surgery.

Miller had arthroscopic surgery in late December to repair torn cartilage. Marks had surgery in January to repair a torn ligament.
