LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - Las Cruces officials are reviewing an independent investigation conducted after claims that a man was beaten in a holding cell at the Las Cruces Police Department.
The Las Cruces Sun-News reports (https://bit.ly/1cEj4hx ) that a spokeswoman for District Attorney Mark D’Antonio’s Office confirmed Thursday that they received a complete review of the incident from the New Mexico State Police, but she did not address any possible charges against the officers.
Attorneys filed a lawsuit alleging police brutality in March on behalf of 47-year-old Ross Flynn and his mother.
One attorney representing Flynn says he believes the investigation recommends that authorities file criminal charges in the incident, which he says left the man with a fractured skull, brain hemorrhage and broken ribs.
In March, surveillance video footage of the incident surfaced and D’Antonio’s office launched the investigation.
