BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (AP) - A man convicted of molesting two children has been sentenced by a Hancock County judge to four life sentences.
According to local media reports, Melvin Patrick Mason was convicted Thursday of four counts of molestation.
Circuit Judge Larry Bourgeois presided over the case. Mason was convicted on two counts of molestation for each of the victims and received a life sentence for each of the four counts with no possibility of parole.
Assistant District Attorney Chris Daniel says Mason will serve the two sets of two life sentences concurrently.
Daniel says the two alleged victims in the case were both under the age 13 when the incidents took place over an extended period until Mason’s arrest on May 11, 2012.
