HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) - Volunteers are planning to fan out this weekend in the rugged hills south of Las Vegas to look for signs of a Utah man who parked his car in a residential cul-de-sac and vanished in December 2009.
Red Rock Search and Rescue is organizing a Saturday search for Steven Koecher in the mountains south of Henderson’s Sun City Anthem.
KLAS-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1ECQG6Z) that organizers think Koecher might have ventured deeper into the terrain than originally thought.
Koecher lived in St. George, Utah, and told his family in Bountiful, Utah, that he would see them on Christmas Eve before he disappeared.
He was last seen on surveillance video walking away from his vehicle.
Family members searched desert areas, rode buses, visited homeless shelters and offered a reward following his disappearance.
