TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) - A date has been set for Northwestern Michigan College’s academic chairs to decide whether to unionize at the Traverse City school.

The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports (https://bit.ly/1bUYZ66 ) Friday that the Michigan Employment Relations Commission will send out ballots on May 27. A count is set for June 17.

The vote applies to five people who are part of the faculty and follows a March decision by a majority of full-time faculty members to join the Michigan Education Association.
