DERIDDER, La. (AP) - State police say one person died and three injured after a pickup struck a school bus head-on in Beauregard Parish. Authorities say there were no children on the bus.

The accident happened Thursday on U.S. Highway 171 about seven miles south of DeRidder.

Sgt. James Anderson says a pickup driven by 21-year-old Vernon Wayne Player, of Benton, was traveling north when it crossed the median and struck a southbound Beauregard Parish school bus, driven by 52-year-old Jess Mullican, of DeRidder.

There were two passengers in the pickup. Troopers say 22-year-old Terric Glover, of Benton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

They say the other passenger, 25-year-old Gustavo Adolfo Rodelo-Espinal, of Bossier City, was ejected and suffered serious injuries.

The bus driver and the pickup driver suffered only minor injuries.
