MORRISDALE, Pa. (AP) - State police say a 10-year-old girl threatened a boy of the same age with a pocket knife at a central Pennsylvania school.
But Clearfield-based state trooper say they’re letting officials in the West Branch School District handle the matter because they don’t believe the girl really planned to use the knife, nor do they think she realized how serious it was just to bring it to school.
Police say the girl brought the knife to the West Branch Area Elementary School in Morrisdale on Wednesday after finding it on her parents’ nightstand. The school is about 120 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
The school district’s superintendent says officials are abiding by the police advice to handle the matter internally. It’s not clear what kind of disciplinary action the girl might face.
