JOHNSON, Vt. (AP) - Police have accused a driver of negligent operation, saying she was texting on her hand-held cellphone when she collided with a milk truck that resulted in a fire in Johnson, Vermont.
The Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department says 22-year-old Kelsi Sharron of Stowe was traveling west on Route 15 and looked down at her phone on May 3. The car crossed the centerline and collided with a tractor trailer unit hauling milk that caught on fire, injuring the driver.
Police say Sharron also was issued violation complaints involving texting and driving, failing to drive to the right and no seat belt.
Sharron is scheduled to appear in court on June 17. It wasn’t immediately known if she had a lawyer. A phone listing was not found for her.
