SHOHOLA, Pa. (AP) - Pennsylvania State Police say a New Jersey man killed his wife by pushing her off a 100-foot cliff in the Pocono Mountains.

The Times-Tribune of Scranton (https://bit.ly/1Pm5CAX ) reports that Stephen J. Dews of Little Falls Township, New Jersey, was arrested Thursday. He’s charged with murder in the March 2013 death of his wife, Gail Dews.

His public defender didn’t immediately return a phone message Friday.

Police say Dews told them he slipped on ice during a hike near Shohola Falls in Pike County and bumped into his wife, sending her over the cliff.

Police say they found blood stains from both Stephen and Gail Dews on his clothing, and turned up evidence the couple had been having marital problems.

Dews awaits extradition to Pennsylvania.
