OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A 21-year-old man is jailed on multiples charges after Oklahoma Police say he struck and killed a Wal-Mart worker with his vehicle.

Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow says 53-year-old Rodney Lynch was pronounced dead at a hospital Friday morning after being hit by a sport utility vehicle while walking to his vehicle in the Wal-Mart parking lot.

Wardlow says investigators later arrested Jabari Berry for causing a fatality collision and leaving the scene of a fatal crash.

It wasn’t immediately clear if Berry has an attorney.

Store manager Mickey Brown said in a statement that Lynch’s death is a “terrible tragedy” and offered prayers to Lynch’s family.

Police say Berry was involved in a disturbance at a nearby grocery before driving across the street to the Wal-Mart parking lot and striking Lynch.
