WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - Police in Worcester have identified a woman who died after she and a friend were struck by a tractor-trailer.

Authorities say 24-year-old Sarah Ewing of Hudson was killed Thursday night when the tractor-trailer turned too sharply and struck a light pole, which fell and forced her and a male friend into the path of the truck. She and the man were standing outside a bar at the time.

Ewing became pinned under the rear wheels of the tractor-trailer and it took rescue personnel about a half hour to free her. She was later pronounced dead at a hospital. The man suffered a serious foot injury.

Police say the truck had pulled over in busy Kelley Square to let a fire truck pass, then turned too sharply toward a highway ramp.
