CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Republican Rick Santorum is the latest potential presidential candidate to visit Nevada this week.

Spokesman Matt Beynon said Santorum was holding private meetings with state legislators in Carson City, and planned a “non-political” speech in Reno on Friday evening.

Santorum is a former senator from Pennsylvania who won the Iowa caucuses in 2012 before fizzling out against eventual nominee Mitt Romney. He hasn’t officially launched a 2016 presidential bid, although Beynon said Santorum plans to make several visits to Nevada in the coming months.

Other possible presidential contenders who stopped in Nevada this week included former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Dr. Ben Carson, who has formally declared his candidacy.
