PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A state and local police task force has arrested a Providence man on allegations he shared child pornography videos and images on the Internet.

Twenty-eight-year-old Austin Lyles was charged Thursday with possession of child pornography and transfer of child pornography. He was arraigned in Providence District Court, where he was released on $10,000 personal recognizance and ordered to stay away from children and not use the Internet.

Lyles was arrested in an investigation by the Rhode Island Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, a group of state and local law enforcement officials.

Lyles’ response to the allegations isn’t known. There’s no phone listing for him in Providence, and it’s not clear if he has an attorney. A message was left Friday with his father, who didn’t know about the arrest.
