WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - A Purdue University Board of Trustees committee has approved freezing tuition for the fourth year in a row and increasing merit pay by 3.5 percent for employees at the West Lafayette campus.
The board’s Finance Committee approved the measure on Thursday. The full Board of Trustees is expected to vote on it Friday before it goes to the Executive Committee for final approval on May 27.
WLFI-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1HkFoKA ) that the proposal would keep base tuition the same for school years 2015-2016 and 2016-2017. That rate is about $10,000 for in-state students, $28,800 for out-of-state students and $30,800 for international students.
Purdue president Mitch Daniels says the budget shows pay increases with a tuition freeze are sustainable moves.
