SWEET HOME, Ore. (AP) - The Linn County sheriff says four people dumped into the water of an Oregon lake when a small drift boat overturned have been rescued.

Sheriff Bruce Riley says a bystander called 911 Thursday afternoon to say the four had been in the water of Foster Lake, near Sweet Home, for about 15 minutes.

Sweet Home firefighters soon arrived and rescued them.

Riley says boat owner Timothy Allen of Albany told deputies that one person in the 16-foot boat shifted to one side, causing the boat to tip. That caused all the passengers to shift to one side and the boat overturned.

Three men including Allen were treated at the scene. The sheriff says an 87-year-old Albany man was taken to a hospital to be treated for hypothermia.

Sweet Home is northeast of Eugene in the Willamette Valley.
