WANTAGE, N.J. (AP) - A veteran skydiver is in the hospital after he was hurt during a hard landing in northern New Jersey.

Thirty-eight-year-old Paul Hayes was initiating a high-speed turn to land at Sussex Airport in Wantage when something went wrong Thursday.

Sussex Skydive owner Curt Kellinger tells WABC-TV (https://7ny.tv/1HkwEUL ) in New York that it looked like he hit the ground pretty hard.

Kellinger says Hayes’ parachute was fully functional.

There’s no word on his condition.
