NEW YORK (AP) - Police say a woman tried to kidnap a toddler swinging at a Central Park playground, but the child’s nanny grabbed him back.

The 2-year-old was at the playground inside the Manhattan park at about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday with his nanny and his brother when the woman in her 30s took him from the swing and tried to leave.

The nanny had been pushing the brother in another swing, but ran to the woman, grabbing the boy from the suspect’s arms. The 2-year-old was uninjured and the suspect fled. The incident was reported to police on Thursday.

Police are asking anyone with information on the woman, who was last seen wearing dark colored pants and who has curly black hair, to call the tips hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
