WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - A 15-year-old Waterloo girl has been shot and killed, and police say her 14-year-old brother has been arrested on suspicion of shooting her with a stolen gun.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1A9GeHE ) that the girl was shot in her home Friday evening and died at a local hospital. Police arrested her brother and charged him with involuntary manslaughter.

The Associated Press does not typically name juveniles charged with a crime, and the AP is not naming the girl killed to protect the identity of her brother.

Police did not release details of the shooting, but the involuntary manslaughter charge indicates the shooting was accidental. However, police say the boy stole the handgun earlier in the day. He has also been charged with burglary and trafficking stolen weapons.
