RIVERDALE, Utah (AP) - Police say two men were arrested in a murder-for-hire plot in Weber County after arguing over the payment and phoning authorities.

Fifty-nine-year-old Joseph Lopez is accused of paying 41-year-old David Northcutt several thousand dollars to kill his adult daughter’s boyfriend.

According to Riverdale police, Lopez demanded his money back after Northcutt failed to follow through with the killing.

The Deseret News reports (https://bit.ly/1JoEpZm ) the men got into an argument Thursday at a home and called police, each complaining about the other and claiming a money dispute.

Police say officers learned of the alleged murder-for-hire plot after questioning them at the home.

Both men were booked into the county jail for investigation of criminal conspiracy to commit murder.

No further details were immediately released.

The case will be reviewed by county prosecutors, who will determine whether to file charges.
