NEW BERN, N.C. (AP) - Local authorities and railroad police are investigating after a body was found in a train coal car in New Bern.

Officials tell local media outlets the body was found shortly before 7 on Friday morning in a Norfolk Southern car just east of a rail yard in the city.

Authorities say they are trying to determine the identity of the person and how they person ended up in the coal car.

Police have not released any additional details.
