GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - The campaign to elect Hillary Rodham Clinton president is kicking off in South Carolina with a house party in Greenville.

Campaign staffers for the Democratic presidential candidate are hosting an event Saturday at Allen Temple AME Church’s Community Room where supporters and friends can meet and learn how they can get involved. More are planned for other cities.

Clinton is planning her first trip to the early voting state since announcing her second White House bid on May 27. The campaign has not disclosed details of that trip.

South Carolina, which hosts the South’s first 2016 primary, is important for Democrats because it is the contest with a large number of black voters.
