GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) - Mesa County commissioners are getting an update on complaints about odor at a wastewater disposal facility near Whitewater.
County officials say operators of the Deer Creek facility treated the water on Friday.
Commissioners in November granted Alanco Energy Services a two-year extension on a permit allowing the facility to operate 24 hours a day. Neighbors objected to the longer operating hours based on the odor they said was coming from the ponds.
The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reports (https://tinyurl.com/k3fvsfu ) Alanco representatives vowed to fix the problem, but odor complaints continued.
Alanco submitted a plan to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to address the odor, but the details of that plan have not been released.
