SAN DIEGO (AP) - A former biotechnology entrepreneur has been sentenced to life in prison for shooting and wounding his former business partner and his brother-in-law.

Hans Petersen was convicted in March of two counts of premeditated attempted murder in what prosecutors described as a revenge mission.

San Diego Superior Court Judge Leo Valentine Jr. says the stiff penalties were imposed to prevent Petersen from being released and finishing “what he started.”

Authorities say Petersen blamed a former business associate for losing his job and was angry at his brother-in-law for helping sell the property he and his estranged wife had owned.

The U-T San Diego reports (https://bit.ly/1e7hs0T ) Petersen blamed the violence on a prescription drug.
